Father Paul writes............
I have been asked by the parish webmaster, AKA Father Brizz, to say a little bit about myself. Now, where do I begin? Probably best at the beginning, so here goes!

I'm very proud indeed to be able to describe myself as a "Pompey Lad" having been born just around the corner from Fratton Park on 2nd October 1965. After several changes of address, taking me from Portsmouth to Fareham, from there to Gosport, and from Gosport to Southampton, I made a final return to my beloved home town in March 2005.
Fr Brizz and I were joined in a Civil Partnership in April of 2006. I have three daughters from a previous marriage, and they are all loved very much and gladly very supportive of us.
Previous to forming the Parish, I was a Lay-Minister within the Church of England, and had been involved in this ministry for some 15 years. I had known for a long time that my real vocation was to the ordained ministry, and I was selected for ordination into an independant jurisdiction, eventually finding a real spiritual home in the UECC.

I come from the Anglo-Catholic tradition - what used to be called in the Church of England "High-Church" - but will always consider taking part in or leading any form or style of worship. It is my custom to use the modern Roman Rite when celebrating Mass, but, again, would listen sympathetically to requests for an alternative, subject to approval from the Bishop.

I really look forward to welcoming everyone to our public services, which at the moment take place on the first Sunday of each month, at the John Pounds Memorial Church at 6.15 p.m. - why not come along and see what we're about? Hopefully, given an enthusiastic congregation, we'll be able to have services more often.
As well as being the Parish Priest.  I, with Fr Brizz, am the Chaplain of ASDA in Fratton, as well as the "Old Vic" pub in Southsea. I enjoy being in both places and spending time with staff and customers alike. I am also Provincial Grand Chaplain of the RAOB "The Buffs" in Gosport, and a Freemason. When I have a rare bit of spare time, I like to spend it with Brizz, along with the telly or a book, and several large Gins and tonic!
If you would like to know more, please feel free to ask - I don't bite!

Your Webmaster here, Fr Brizz. What can I say about me being honest and open...........
Well I was born In Portsmouth on 16th July 1972, the fifth and final child of Margaret and Basil. I attended Charles Dickens first and junior schools and broke family tradition and went to St Luke's C of E aided Comprehensive where I was active in running the Christian Union. After receiving a lot of bullying, but still doing well with my GCSE's I left school and moved to Southampton for a period of time but Portsmouth drew me back.

I have a very close family that accepted my sexual orientation from an early age. I had a long period away from the church as a whole due to being made to feel that I was wrong or aborhant, this I most certainly am not.

After losing my mother Easter Sunday 2004 I had a hard time accepting her passing but through meeting my partner, Paul, and regaining my faith, the pain I suffered due to the loss has eased. I have managed to find a church that is open and inclusive and also found my vocation; something I believe was always there but kept under a facade.

I spent a lot of time helping people in various ways but it never seemed to fit with what I was doing until Maundy Thursday 2006 when I was ordained to the diaconate. From that moment although it has been a tough road I have finally found my true self and I have never been as happy as that day and when I was Civil Partnered to Paul.

Our ministry has taken spreading Gods word back to basics we go out into the community as chaplains of our local ASDA and chaplains of The Old Vic pub, an exciting addition is that we have been asked to be chaplains to The Hovercraft museum in Lee-on-the-Solent.

As of the 7th November I was initiated as a Buff (RAOB) I was priviliged that I was nominated and initiated by Father Paul who is the Provincial Grand Chaplain. I enjoy a cognac and loveage or two and after 18 years addicted to the dreaded cigarettes Fr Paul and I have given up, see the news page for proof, we also received a mug each (good times).

I am sometimes known as a bit of a rottweiller - I detest injustice and prejudism and have a tendency to stick up for those who I feel cannot do so for themselves. On occasions this gets me in trouble, but I will never change where that is concerned! I was ordained to the priesthood on the 10th December 2006 along with two other ordinands and prayed my first Mass on 14th December which was a very spiritual occasion.

I was very happy and proud the day we were incardinated into the ECCUK and am also very proud to be the webmaster for the UK site of the Ecumenical Catholic Church.
What lays ahead nobody knows but with the strength of Our Lord inside us we will try our best to bring his word to all who wish to know him.
