OUR BISHOP

The Most Reverend Terry Flynn STB

Was born to Roman Catholic Parents in the City of Cardiff, Wales. On finishing his High School Education he entered the English College at Valladolid, Spain, where he underwent the full six-year seminary training course, leaving as a deacon with a degree in Theology and Philosophy.

Terry was ordained priest of the Archdiocese of Cardiff on 10th July 1976 in his home parish. He served the Archdiocese until 1987 when boundary changes led to him being incardinated in the Diocese of Menevia where he served as Parish Priest and Press Officer for the diocese until 1991.

Disillusioned with increasing conservatism and facing a personal crisis Fr Terry laid aside his ministry for the sake of his personal integrity and honesty before God.

1998 saw the Holy Spirit using Archbishop Bruce Simpson of Long Island as a tool to invite Fr Terry into the independent fold. Along with Archbishop Dominic Martin and four other American Archbishops, +Bruce nominated and consecrated Terry as Bishop with responsibility for the UK. The Consecration took place in Washington DC on 28th September 2001.

The Reverend Glenn Maximilian Reed LL.B (Hons)

(Duke of Edinburgh Scholar, Inner  Temple former practising barrister)

Ordained Deacon in October 2003 and Priest in June 2004 within the Open Episcopal Church UK & Ireland

Fr Glenn specialises in funeral ministry and is often instructed to deal with difficult and tragic cases. His Parish - the Parish of St Maximilian Kolbe, embraces the whole of Bristol where he functions as a community priest. However, he doesn't just deal with funerals. He takes the Most Holy Sacrament to those who are infirm, conducts baptisms and blessings and confession when asked.

Fr Glenn is actively considering returning to the Bar as a sole practitioner to specialise in civil advisory and court work for a limited number of solicitors so that his ministry will not be drastically adversely affected.

Other interests are: cooking, writing, chess, and the absolute enjoyment of his family - wife, Debbi and son, Alexander, along with his two exotic pets, a rat snake and a royal python.

An unusual cleric? Most definitely!

The Reverend Nicola Martin-Davis

Cert Ed EN(G) Bethany Counsellor Ministry& Mission

I was a nurse for 14 years and a specialist teacher for 14 years. I was eventually brave enough to recognise I was called to ministry in 1997 but battled with that 'nagging' voice for many years prior to that – long before women were allowed to be ordained! An (atheist!) art teacher in the college of FE I worked in said, " stop telling everyone you think you should be a priest and flipping well go off and do it..." So I flipping well did.

I remained in secular work until I could no longer balance a full time job with ministry. As a nurse, I specialised in elderly care and worked for some years, post qualification, nursing terminally ill patients within their own home.

My Parish of St Bernadette will be an Inclusive  Church

with a peripatetic Christian Education Centre attached to it.  As well as my ministerial duties I am keen to continue with offering group and individual support to those in pain after the loss of a loved one.
